SFPUG Video on YouTube

TL;DR: SFPUG video available on YouTube, including streaming video tonight.  I need help converting old videos and making new ones.

First, we have a few SFPUG videos available on YouTube:
While JSONB Deep Dive was also recorded, there were issues with the audio, so I don't recommend watching it, sorry.

We will have streaming video for tonight's SFPUG, which will be on Postgres-XL.   Join the Google Event to get a link to the streaming video once it starts; expected start time is 7:15PM PST.

This brings me to the third thing, which is that I could use some help with video, in two areas:
  1. I desperately need someone to help take better-quality videos of SFPUG meetings, with better focus and sound.  Right now I'm using a Logitech webcam, and it's just not cutting it.  Video will need to be compatible with Google Hangouts, unless you have another plan for broadcasting.
  2. I have 7 or 8 videos of SFPUG meetings from 2013, including Tom Lane explaining the query planner, in FLV format.  I need someone to transcode these to a YouTube format and upload them.
If you can help, email me.  Thanks!

SFPUG Live Video: Wanelo's 12-Step Program

Tommorrow for San Francisco PostgreSQL User Group, recent dot-com success and social shopping site Wanelo will be explaining their 12-Step Program for Application Performance.  I can't give away the details, but it will involve replication, sharding, and the Joyent cloud.  If you can't make it in person (and you can't, it's full up), then join us on Google Hangout.

Note: this is our first time using Google Hangout to broadcast SFPUG.  It may or may not go well.  Don't expect any video before around 7:15PM Pacific.  If it works, there will also be archival video on YouTube.

SFPUG Live: PostgreSQL and Distributed Services

For next Tuesday's San Francisco PostgreSQL User Group, we will have CitusDB talking about distributed services.  As usual, this will be live broadcast on streaming video.  Broadcast should start around 7:15 PM Pacific.

CitusDB is a distributed analytic database built on top of PostgreSQL that
enables queries to run in real-time against very large datasets. A quick
high-level overview of the key features is available on the CitusDB site.

Join CitusDB staff in discussing their experiences writing a foreign
data wrapper for MongoDB, as well as some of the broader issues that come
into play when writing FDWs that interact with distributed services.

More information about the event, and RSVPs on the SFPUG Meetup Page.
