That is also a lot of hard work, thanks for that.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13433370463610127678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476449567742726187.post-12246455470858229972014-12-05T10:06:17.100-08:002014-12-05T10:06:17.100-08:00Oh, I hadn't seem shard_manager. Given that you focus mostly on ID creation, something which is currently lacking in pg_shard, the two extensions seem like a good combination if we could work them out.

Oh, and the Citus guys did all the hard work. I just tested.Josh Berkushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09671139717468724246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476449567742726187.post-71554315583206199172014-12-05T07:44:30.754-08:002014-12-05T07:44:30.754-08:00Nice. Mine's all SQL based, but that also means the metadata can be mirrored to avoid depending on a master node. Caching the shard mapping makes even that unnecessary.

Regardless, advancements like pg_shard always excite me, because it gets us closer to truly transparent distributed databases. Thanks for all the hard work, Josh!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17266660259741435527noreply@blogger.com
